When you're going through the midst of motherhood (or parenthood) it can be a massive challenge to be fully present and embrace the moment.
But if you can take time (time, ha what's that, lol) to stop (stop, you've got to be kidding!) and reflect at some point... it's a pretty amazing and privileged experience to be given. So really, just love them. Because in essence, they are you , just chuckin' it all back at ya!
Just Love Them
by Charnjit Love your children with all your heart and soul
For they are you and you are they
Each and every day in each and every way
Mirrors reflecting back to you
Aspects of you as a child
Untapped potential
Unfulfilled dreams and aspirations
New gifts to be gained, harnessed, exposed and shared The sleepless nights
The tantrums and bites
Tears at dawn
Tiaras at tea
But we wouldn't have it any other way you see It's all part and parcel
From head to metatarsal
These wonderful bundles
Of miraculous life
Given to me, lil ol' me
Who hasn't got a clue
I just stumble my way through But one thing I know
They make me grow
In patience and understanding
In being less demanding
More accepting
More loving
More caring
More sharing And as they go through each phase and stage
Through trials and tribulations, ups and downs, the highs and lows
I go through it all with them behind the scenes
So hopefully it softens some of the blows
Because the toughest part for me to go through
Is when there isn't much that I can do Not like when they were little
When we could fix it with a plaster
To help that wound heal up faster Some wounds run deep
And will take time
They'll heal themselves
When they're ready
So it's best for me to just be present
Solid and steady Maybe knowing that much, for them is enough
Knowing I'm here when times get tough
Knowing we can always have a laugh and a cry
A rant and a vent
It's time well spent But it's not all doom and gloom
There's so much anew
The lingo, the slang, the environs
I'm so green on that scene
Much to their amusement (and mine too!)
We elevate and educate each other
Brother to brother and sons to mother Although they'll always take the credit
That's it's them who's first to have read it
I'm first, no me
I started that you see.
And the banter and wit
Keeps my brain fit
Uplifts my heart and soul
Continuing my goal
To love my children
With all my heart
And all my soul
C xx
