Happy New Years Eve Eve - What Went On In '21

Blues And Twos

Unexpected news

Changing views

Running out of booze

We did the census

Without any fuss

And in a decade

It'll be replayed

Retribution for lack of distribution

Low on supplies, it's no surprise

Inundated and getting vaccinated

We pulled together as united as ever

Going for gold, no matter how old

Just being bold

Rewards - ten fold

Academic tests

Lateral flow tests

PCR tests

Lockdown protests

Kevlar vests

Appropriation

Divided nations

Fleeing nations

Integration

Dried up petrol pumps

Leading to shoves and thumps

A challenge to drive

On the M25

Due to insulation

demon - strations

Hiked up energy prices

Bringing further crises

Choosing to heat or eat

To overcome defeat

Gloves for the hands and socks for the feet

Soup for the belly and soup for the soul

Warming our hearts and minds, the goal

The oldies, the oldies

Used to be the goldies

Being threatened with paid prescription

Putting them in a class of non-description

Oh no - I lied

Doesn't that equate?

To genocide?

We've come a long way

Oh haven't we just

Energy companies going bust

It's getting to the point where we just

Can't be fussed

Nature knows best

She'll sort us all out

With a fire, a flood

An earthquake, a drought

Work with her beauty

Do your duty

Play your role

As governed by soul

Keeping our faith strong

Knowing it won't be long

Until we start the year anew

Ringing in with cheer 2022

Here's to me and here's to you!

So much went on in 2021

It's here today

And tomorrow gone

And just when we thought the year was done

Along came the variant
