Autumn Equinox Letting Go Meditation

by Charnjit Bains 19/08/2014

Make sure you are of sound mind and safe before carrying out this meditation.

Sit in a comfortable position with both feet on the floor

Close your eyes (if applicable)

Take three comfortable breaths

Imagine roots growing out of the soles of your feet...

Down into the ground.

Imagine branches extending from your shoulders, arms hands and head.

Imagine yourself becoming a tree, any kind.

Notice how tall you grow or how far out the branches spread.

See the branches fill with leaves.

These leaves represent all that you are attached to in your life - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

The leaves are mixed - some old, some new, some large, some small.

Some of these leaves (people, places, things, thoughts, feelings, attitudes) are ready to fall away during this autumn equinox time - a time of release and letting go.

There is nothing to fear as the roots will continue to strengthen and in spring those leaves that need to, will go through a process of rebirth and will be revived, renewed and refreshed.

Visualise as few or as many of the leaves changing from green to orange to red to brown - eventually dropping off the tree.

Notice what happens to the leaves.

Are they blown away in the wind?

Do they settle at the foot of the tree?

As these leaves depart, give thanks for the time they have been in your life.

Take a moment to mentally say "Thank you for being in my life for you have taught me..... I now release you - goodbye"

Know that these leaves (people, places, things, thoughts, feelings, attitudes) will be transmuted and returned to you in a way that is appropriate for where you are in your life right now.

Slowly, Imagine branches retracting from your shoulders, hands, arms and head.

Imagine roots coming back up through the ground, through the floor and back up through the soles of your feet.

Gently bring your awareness back to the room and back to your body.

When you feel ready, give thanks to the universe and open your eyes
